Typically your vehicle will use a lead acid battery, basically speaking your battery is 6 lead cells comprised each of 2 plates, these are submerged in an electrolyte ( water & sulphuric acid ). This is then encapsulated in a plastic box which you know as a car battery. A chemical reaction in your battery produces large amounts of energy which is perfect for turning a vehicles starter motor.
